You may have among the worst situations found by homeowners up for a kitchen or bathroom renovation. You have purchased a new home or pre owned condo, have embarked on a reno project on your bathroom or washroom.

Upon inspecting, or having a home contractor or handyman embark on the job or work estimate of replacing the floor discover the previous owner knowingly to save construction and renovation costs or unwittingly not realized that they were embarking on shady dealings or a poor bargain from a contractor has laid vinyl peel and stick tiles directly over the subfloor of particle board. It may be that its just general home renovations and upgrades or it may be a case that water has leaked out of the plumbing or over time in the washroom from the fixtures. You either have to or want to replace that flooring. What is a fix in this situation to either replace flooring or for fixing that thoroughly soaked sub-floor in the bathroom areas?

It is definitely a case of all possible worlds that is finding vinyl peel-and stick tiles lying over particle board. You can fix the situation yet in many cases experienced home repair tradespeople and handy men will advise you that this is but a short term fix.

In the flooring trades the sub-floor of particle board is often referred to directly as the underlayment. Particle board which some say is among the worst plagues to ever bedevil mankind is in actuality little more than glued compressed sawdust which was a cash cow to its inventor and innovator to its Canadian forest park inventors. A cash cow to the wood mils but not to the average tradesperson or home owner. With what was basically garbage to the wood mills sawdust a throw away item was converted into a building product and basic staple of home and furniture builders the flip side of the equation that although rigid particle-board is rigid has no bend. It can basically lay straight in one piece, be snapped off, but can bend. Worse yet this rigid piece of glued sawdust warps in one giant bend when wet. It cannot be tacked down or held in place when warped. There it bends into the air upwards taking your flooring off the ground. All in al its sole purpose is to provide a smooth surface with which to glue vinyl. Hopefully your particle board has been nailed down to a beefier surface such as good old fashioned plywood which to its credit unlike particle board does have integrity of structure.

Yet what can you do to remedy the situation? For a quick fix you can cut off the damaged sections of underlayment, let the area more than thoroughly dry for several weeks and then replace the damaged tiles. That is if you can find the pattern and a reasonably close in appearance production lot.

The beauty of this project is that for most home owners with a little repair skills under their belt can do this simple repair themselves with a little elbow grease and thus reduce costs. If not it should be a pretty simple low tech job for a relative with the skills or a local home handyman.

A sub floor can present difficulties if soaked with water. Adhesive may have curled at the edges of the tiles themselves. Yet a temporary fix until you call in a professional contractor can be easily done by most home owners whether in a house, condo or vacation cottage.

In some parts of the islands, resort houses are also established from used shipping containers. The containers are attached side by side and from top to bottom in order to produce a 2 storey resort house, complete with a bar, living room, master’s bedroom, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, 2nd story balcony, and toilet and bathroom.

Moving Services Save You Time And Save Your Back}

Submitted by: Anna Woodward

Why should you hire a moving service instead of doing it yourself? There are many reasons why professionals are better suited for the job. Yes, you might save a few dollars by going it alone, but youll probably waste a lot of time, hurt your back, and feel extremely stressed in the process. It is much easier on your mind and body to leave the tough stuff to a shifting service. Here are the main reasons why you should avoid packing it up and relocating on your own.

1. Stress

Shifting is already a stressful experience and you want to make it even worse? Most people are still working, going to school, or taking care of their families and then have to add packing to their list of responsibilities. Just thinking about starting is enough to give many people headaches. The movers can help eliminate a lot of excess stress and make the entire relocation feel much more manageable and less overwhelming.

2. Back pain

Are you really in good enough physical condition to move that couch? Do you want to risk putting out your back or straining your muscles when you have to unpack and still get to work every day? Moving heavy furniture and boxes is physically exhausting and if you rush or do things improperly, you will feel the pain. Even professionals in the moving service industry who have many years of experience and know all of the proper techniques suffer from injuries and strains all of the time. If you move on your own, your body might not be as cooperative as youd like.

3. Time

People who choose to move on their own often receive the recommendation to start packing at least a month ahead of the move-in date. Why so early? Because packing takes a long, long time. Youll also find that during the process youll put something in a box, tape it up, and stack it somewhere, only to discover a week later that you desperately need something that is trapped inside. Packing, unpacking, repackingthats a lot of wasted time. Moving services can take care of some or even all of your packing work, keep it organized, and do it faster than you can. Save your time for worrying about where youll put your couch in your new home rather than where you put your sweater.

4. Organization

Yes, once again, professional services are the expertsnot you. Most people get burnt out after packing a few dozen boxes and their careful organization efforts are thrown out the window for haphazard get it done now methods. A shifting company can keep things neatly organized through the process so unpacking is made ten times easier and more efficient.

5. Spare your friends

Lets face it. Everyone with a truck or van dreads the inevitable monthly call from friends that begins, So, Im moving soon Unless you own your own truck, youre probably going to have to rent one or hassle a friend to give you a hand. When you hire professional services, you dont have to worry about it.
